AMBROTYPES

 

 HENRY WARD BEECHER (1813-1887). 
1/6 plate cased ambrotype.  
Clergyman & publicist.   He became a very popular preacher and was then pastor of the Plymouth Church,  Brooklyn,  New York.  He opposed slavery and favored municipal reform.  His later years were overshadowed by a sexual scandal.  However, he remained popular and continued to work at Plymouth Church until his death.
